Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to lead design, deployment, testing, and maintenance of geospatial products and tools in an AWS environment. We are looking for a Senior Developer- Data Services Location Information. You will spend your time in a dynamic purpose driven team, with plenty of chances to share your knowledge and contribute to a range of Open-Source Software projects. You will be part of an agile team with genuine flexible working arrangements available and have access to exceptional mentors.
You will shape our best practice development communities and champion open standards and system interoperability within the Open-Source community. Part of your role is keeping the Location Information business group creative and innovative in the ongoing improvement of our systems and processes.
You will work collaboratively across the team to translate requirements into design, communicating technical ideas clearly to both general and technical audiences and providing input to user training support and documentation.

He pūkenga tou - Skills & Experience:
- Proven frontend and backend development experience
- Diverse programming skills, including an interest in JVM languages (e.g. Java, Kotlin, etc), Typescript and Python. You have a strong willingness to adapt and learn new technologies and programming languages (e.g. AI, Flutter, etc) as part of our evolving tech stack
- A strong grasp of relational databases, with a preference for experience with PostgreSQL.
- Experience with version control preferably in Git and Github
- Experience in automation processes, including testing and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with AWS and working with geospatial or scientific data would be an advantage
- Operational knowledge of agile scrum methodologies and development tools
- Experience mentoring other team members and leading technical discussions as required
The annual salary Range for this role is-$120k-140K- depending on skills and experience.

Te Tākinatanga - Our Story
At Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand, our key role is to ensure New Zealanders have accurate information about where people and places are, that people have confidence in their property rights and that Crown property is well managed for future generations.
Our responsibilities include managing land titles, geodetic and cadastral survey systems, topographic information, hydrographic information, managing Crown property and supporting government decision making around foreign ownership.
Location Information contributes to increasing the value of geographic information by developing and managing new and existing data about our land and seas. These are released online, through the Toitū Te Whenua Data Service, for others to use and reuse. Using this data, we provide products and services (maps, charts and the geospatial reference system) to support critical national functions, such as emergency services responses and maritime safety.
