Job Description

  • Are you a highly motivated and experienced Licensed Cadastral Surveyor?
  • Do you enjoy solving complex survey problems?
  • LINZ offer flexible working and support work life balance
  • Hamilton or Christchurch location

At LINZ we have a strong commitment to promoting work-life balance, while providing a healthy and safe working environment.

Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) has an opportunity for licensed cadastral surveyors in our Hamilton and Christchurch offices. At LINZ, we have a strong commitment to promoting work-life balance, while providing a healthy and safe working environment.  Offering flexibility in the way that we work ensures that people get the satisfaction of contributing to the important work that LINZ is responsible for in a way that works for you.

The role of the Property Rights business group is to ensure surveys being integrated into the cadastre satisfy the regulatory standards set by the Surveyor-General.  All members of the Cadastral Surveyor team within Property Rights have recent private practice experience and hence understand the difficulties of practicing surveyors. This puts us in a great position to influence the Rules Review and the Survey Title and Enhancement Project, which is modernising Landonline.  Here at LINZ, we are continuing to focus on how we work with our customers and stakeholders, which includes making access more readily available to practicing cadastral surveyors.  So if you're keen to help surveyors get things right then come and join us and make a valuable contribution to our dedicated team and the profession.

The role:

You'll be reporting to the Principal Cadastral Surveyor and will be one of the ‘go to' experts for technical survey advice both within Property Rights and to other LINZ business groups, supporting our survey staff and providing advice to external surveyors.  You will be contributing towards and driving continuous improvement, education and ensuring LINZ is providing outstanding customer service.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • A Bachelor of Surveying or equivalent and be a Licensed Cadastral Surveyor
  • Considerable practical surveying experience, knowledge of survey records, and be competent in the use of Landonline
  • Solid analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong relationship building skills and customer focus

We need people who are bold, unafraid to learn, try new things and get results.  You will also be passionate about connecting your expertise and knowledge with others because we believe we achieve the best outcomes when we work with others and support each other.

Come and join our team, it will be a fantastic career move and you will enjoy working within a positive culture with plenty of flexibility.
