We have an opportunity for an experienced communication and engagement professional performing at a senior level to join our team.  The role reports to the Manager Engagement and Communications (Building, Resources and Markets (BRM) Group) delivering strategic communications support on an account management basis.

The role provides strategic communications support to the BRM Group with a focus on the energy and recourse markets sector and will involve substantial Ministerial office and external stakeholder interaction.

This role requires an experienced communications professional who is able to think strategically and effectively manage their own time and their relationships with others.


The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in the development and implementation of engagement strategies and plans, and in the writing and delivery of appropriate and audience focused products.
  • The proven ability to take a strategic, proactive approach in the management of reputation opportunities and issues, internal and external communications and stakeholder engagement
  • The proven ability to identify and understand internal and external customer needs and adapt their style and language to meet them
  • The ability to actively engage with a broad range of stakeholders.


To be successful in this role you will ideally have:

  • Experience in managing relationships / expectations with Ministerial offices and a good understanding of Government decision-making and operating procedures.
  • Commercial/private sector experience, preferably in the energy and resource markets sectors.
  • Proven ability in managing risk, and provide environmental scanning/ risk assessment.
  • An understanding of how different channels interact and work best together to achieve objectives
  • Knowledge of digital services, tools and trends, including techniques for optimising digital content.
  • Strong writing, editing and oral communications skills
