As part of the Corporate, Governance and Information Group, the ICT branch are responsible for the design, build and operation of effective information and communications technology services and solutions that allow MBIE teams to succeed in their goal to build a productive and competitive economy.

 

This role sits in our Enterprise DW and BI team, which is responsible for data warehousing and business intelligence services across MBIE. The team uses and supports a number of software platforms primarily based on Microsoft and SAS technologies.

 

We currently have three vacancies available. Each one may focus on different areas within our environment, so if you are strong in one competency but less so in another there may be still an opportunity in the team.

 

As a Data Warehouse and BI Analyst your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing data warehouse and BI solutions.
  • Supporting existing ETL and reporting solutions.
  • Developing and implementing new BI data models.
  • Testing and peer review of team solutions.
  • Influencing ongoing development of standards and processes.
  • Promoting the capabilities of the team and identify use cases for Analytics and Reporting solutions.

 

We are looking for a highly motivated person to be part of the Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence team. Ideally, you will have a range of skills that will include:

  • Three or more years of experience implementing DW and BI solutions using Microsoft SQL and/or SAS development and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of data warehouse methodologies including Kimball and Data Vault and their implementation in SQL, SSIS, SAS or other toolsets.
  • Numeracy and understanding of statistical methods and there application to BI.
  • Understanding of data visualisation and exploratory data analysis.
  • Comfortable talking with the business to analyse processes and solicit requirements. Previous experience with BEAM or similar would be an advantage.
  • An understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle, iterative development and continuous improvement, and how it pertains to data warehousing.
  • Self managing and able to working collaboratively with a team with an ability to use appropriate skills to progress work.
