Job Description

  • Be part of  significant investment in science and innovation that supports government goals in achieving environmental, social and economic outcomes
  • Work across the science system
  • Be in a multi-faceted role in a fast paced environment

As an Investment Manager, you will:

  • Build knowledge and relationships with the science and research community;
  • Contribute to making smart funding decisions;
  • Manage investment and contracting relationships;
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of investments.

Our work programme is focussed on four strategic areas of science investment:

The Endeavour Fund invests in excellent research that has high potential to positively transform New Zealand's future - economically, environmentally and socially, and give effect to Vision Mātauranga.
The Partnerships Scheme supports sector-led high-quality research aimed at increasing New Zealand's competitiveness and sustainability.  It strengthens ties between research organisations and research users, particularly industry, by supporting them to establish a long-term research programme.
The Pre-Seed Accelerator Fund and the Capability Partner Network Fund support early stage technology commercialisation activities.
The Vision Mātauranga Capability Fund aims to grow skills and capacity for Māori participation in science and innovation and support outcomes that benefit New Zealand.
This is a great opportunity to get involved with science initiatives which support government goals in improving environment, social and economic outcomes. Our goal is to use science excellence to generate transformative impact for New Zealand.

Ideally, we are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • A science, technology or engineering tertiary degree - recent graduates with 1 - 2 years work experience are welcome to apply
  • Experience in operating investment processes or making decisions about funding investment
  • Experience working in a science related role either within a research organisation, industry group, university, business or government or some prior interaction with the science system
  • Strong thinking, planning and relationship management skills
  • Some sector knowledge across economic, environment or social sectors desirable
