About the roles:

We are seeking two experienced communications professionals to support our work in the high profile Immigration portfolio by delivering high-level strategic communications advice and services. As well as supporting internal Immigration New Zealand customers, you will also provide high quality communications support to Ministerial offices and deal with media inquiries. It's a fast-paced and challenging environment but a rewarding one. 

You will work with a broad variety of stakeholders, including Ministers' offices, the media and external counterparts in other public services agencies. You will need to be people focused and thrive under pressure, and have a proactive approach wanting to deliver best practice communication solutions.

You will have experience working in the role of trusted advisor to senior executives, bringing excellent relationship management skills, stakeholder engagement experience and networks.

The Principal Engagement and Communications advisor is expected to fully understand the respective DCE's needs while having a good understanding of MBIE's diverse work portfolio.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience in  government and political communications
  • A proven ability to work strategically and deliver strategies to manage communications challenges.
  • Wide ranging knowledge of government process and the media landscape.
  • Experience in managing key relationships, both externally and internally.
  • Experience in crisis management.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Must have legal right to live and work in NZ.

 

This role will report to the Manager, Engagement and Communications, INZ as part of the Engagement, Communications and Ministerial Services branch.
