Job Description

  • Develop a programme of work to prevent, deter, and respond to irregular migration to New Zealand
  • Cross government initiative
  • Permanent position, Wellington CBD based

 

About the role:

The Programme Manager, Irregular Migration is responsible for developing and coordinating a programme of work to prevent, deter and respond to irregular migration to New Zealand.

In this role you will be responsible for maintaining relationships in cooperation with other official representatives and facilitating cooperation that supports New Zealand's capability to prevent, deter and respond to irregular migration.

As the Programme Manager you will also be tasked with advising and reporting on compliance with law, strategies, and international and legal obligations as it relates to irregular migration.

 

Skills and experience required:

  • Proven Programme Management experience
  • Experience working on cross-government initiatives
  • A demonstrated ability to professionally represent New Zealand and New Zealand government agencies at a range of levels
  • Experience working with Intelligence services
  • A demonstrated understanding of the national and international security environment relevant to New Zealand's interests (particularly with respect to irregular migration).
  • Experience managing risk, sensitive issues and confidentiality
  • Experience in delivering high quality reports within prescribed timeframes
  • Strong stakeholder relationship management skills

All applicants must possess New Zealand citizenship/hold an indefinite residence class visa with the ability to gain Top Secret clearance.

The Programme Manager, Irregular Migration  role within the Compliance Risk and Intelligence Services (CRIS) group of Immigration New Zealand. CRIS is part of Immigration New Zealand and is responsible for preventing and responding to immigration related offending and non-compliance.
