Job Description

Vacancy on Health Responsible Authority – Dietitians Board

The health responsible authorities are established under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (HPCA Act).Their purpose is to protect the health and safety of members of the public by providing mechanisms to ensure that health practitioners are fit and competent to practise their professions. The Minister appoints a variety of people to responsible authorities.

On behalf of Hon Dr David Clark, Minister of Health, we are currently seeking applications/nominations for the following positions:

  • Three health practitioner members to the Dietitians Board.

Please note that any applicants for a health practitioner member position must be registered in New Zealand and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate; and applicants for a lay member position must not be, or be qualified to be, a health practitioner.

If you are in doubt, please contact to determine your eligibility.

Applicants from across New Zealand are welcome. Registered Dietitians work in a wide range of places, in both private practice and within the public health system; the scope of dietetic practice is very broad and the Board seeks to be reflective of the profession it is regulating.

To nominate someone, or apply yourself, the following are required:

  • a declaration form for the relevant position, completed by the candidate for the relevant position (attached)

  • a covering letter, detailing your/the nominee's experience that is relevant to the Dietitians Board and why the position is of interest to you/them

  • a current CV.

Nominations/applications must be made using the Ministry's online Career centre and close 28 May 2018.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email the Government and Executive Advisory team at
