Job Description

We are looking for a Clinical Chief Advisor (Primary Health Care) to join us!

As a Clinical Chief Advisor within the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, you will contribute to providing leadership, clinical input and strategic professional advice across the Ministry's priorities and work programmes, the wider health sector, and other government agencies.

This role will have a specific focus on supporting the development and implementation of primary health care related initiatives. It will require insight and innovative contribution to help shape the system to better meet the needs of all population groups, particularly those most vulnerable.

A strong primary health care system is central to improving the health of all New Zealanders and reducing health inequalities between different groups. Primary care is also central to delivering on the New Zealand Health Strategy, and ensuring services are people-powered, close to home and one team.

To be successful, you'll be a registered health professional with a sound and extensive background in the field of primary health care. You will have an excellent understanding of the wider primary health care sector, the importance of integrated care and the value of collaborative approaches to achieving health gain.

You'll have a demonstrated ability to successfully lead, manage and influence in a professional leadership role working in a complex environment, with a proven ability to write and talk about complex clinical and technical issues clearly and concisely and tailor messages for a range of audiences.

The breadth of this role will see you engaging with a wide range of high level internal and external stakeholders, so it's a given that you'll be skilled at developing and maintaining effective professional relationships.  This is a flexible role in which the successful candidate will be able to maintain their clinical practice.

If you think you've got what we're looking for, we want to hear from you!  Apply online with your CV and cover letter outlining your background and your interest in the role. All applications must be made online.
