Job Description

Are you a highly motivated and experienced advisor or policy professional ready for a role working to improve oral health outcomes for all New Zealanders? If so, we have just the role for you.

As a Senior Advisor in the Population Health and Prevention Directorate of the Ministry of Health, you'll work to secure better population-level outcomes and to achieve equity in oral health.  Projects include working with DHBs to embed an improved model of care for the Community Oral Health Service; implementing an oral health promotion initiative for young children and their families and whānau; and work to increase community water fluoridation coverage.

You'll be responsible for delivering key aspects of the work programme including leading significant written work.  The work will be carried out in collaboration with the oral health team, other Ministry of Health staff and external stakeholders.  You will report to the Team Leader Oral Health.

To be successful in this role you'll need to have:

  • Ability to manage relationships at all levels and to work well with others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to think and act strategically
  • Ability to analyse complex information and provide advice to a wide range of audiences
  • Skills in project management and prioritisation
  • Sound professional judgement
  • Experience as an advisor or senior advisor in the core government sector
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field

This is a permanent full-time role based in Wellington. A secondment arrangement will also be considered.
