Job Description

  • Opportunity for you to provide health economics advice across a broad range of work programmes
  •  Wellington Location

The System Strategy and Policy directorate works closely with Ministers and Cabinet to provide high quality health advice to inform the decisions they make on behalf of the Government.

If you are the type of economist who enjoys figuring out ways of communicating with a variety of different types of people, and who wants to help non-economists analyse options for meeting key health challenges, this might be the job for you. We want to hear from you if you have:

  • At least two years of post-university work experience preferably in the public sector
  • Enjoy working collaboratively across teams giving real-time advice to decision makers
  • A passion for building understanding about economics among non-economists
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A commitment to using the best available evidence to inform your advice.

The work undertaken by the Office of the Chief Health Economist is varied so there is scope for you to influence what you are working on.

You will have a strong background in economics and be confident in applying economic principles and evidence to policy problems.
