Join the Ministry of Health as our new Manager, Health and Safety and help us embed and further improve our Health & Safety vision, initiatives and culture through Ministry-wide engagement, collaboration and innovation.   

 

We have a kaitiaki role across the Ministry – protecting and looking after our organisation so we have great people, processes and technology.

 

The Manager Health and Safety is a senior practitioner responsible for providing strategic and operational health and safety expertise that will help facilitate our employees' safety and wellbeing.

 

Working closely with the Group Manager, Operations and managing the Advisor Health and Safety, this is a critical role and will provide leadership and guidance to various stakeholders including the Executive Leadership Team, and Health and Safety committees to develop, implement, and champion the programme outcomes across the Ministry.

 

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills & experience:

  • Significant strategic and operational experience in a senior Health & Safety role
  • Demonstrated capability managing, coaching and mentoring staff
  • Experience delivering Health & Safety training across all levels of an organisation
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Health & Safety at Work Act 2015
  • Qualified SafePlus assessor or the ability to achieve without further training or experience
  • Proven experience delivering policy or strategic advice at a senior level in a public sector organisation
  • Have participated in and/or led implementing health and safety best practice across a large, multi-office organisation
  • Demonstrated ability to working on national projects and within governance structures
  • You will be an effective relationship manager and an engaging communicator who had deliver complex issues in a simplistic way to meet the needs of your audiences
  • Knowledge of the ACC Accredited Employers programme and experience in the audit process
  • Demonstrable ability to influence at a senior level
