We are looking to appoint a Senior Advisor to our Project Management Office [PMO] reporting directly through to the Manager, PMO. This dynamic role requires excellent written communication skills, demonstrated ability to deal with complexity, and a desire to get great outcomes in capital investment to improve the well-being of New Zealanders. We are looking for an energetic person who is up for a challenge and seeking an opportunity to work across a range of organisations and stakeholders in health and central government. 

Within the Ministry of Health, we are establishing a Health Infrastructure Unit to help support and guide health capital strategy and management over the next decade.  This exciting new area has responsibility for oversight of District Health Board capital business cases, service planning and asset management, as well as the delivery of some of the key capital redevelopments (including new hospitals) across the country. This is challenging but rewarding work to deliver important health infrastructure projects. Health infrastructure has a vital role in ensuring New Zealanders have access to high quality health services. 

To be successful in this role, we are looking for the following qualities:

• Relevant tertiary qualification and / or work experience relevant to portfolio, programme, project and Project Management Office activities
• Practical experience working as part of a Project Management Office team preferably involving capital works in a Government environment
• An analytical and enquiring mindset, with a willingness to ask probing questions to understand the underlying information
• A collegial attitude and desire to work with colleagues to achieve results, and share your knowledge and expertise to support the growth of the team
• High level of competency with the Microsoft suite of tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
