We lead, support and advise health and disability sector transformation through the use of data, digital services and technology.
The role of Principal Advisor Security is a new role that is responsible for providing senior technical expertise and advice to inform future decision making for work programmes that best support the delivery of the Government's and Ministry priorities and objectives.
In this exciting new role, you work with the IT Security Manager to further raise the security maturity and capability of the Ministry of Health and the wider health and disability sector. It is also an exciting time to join the team as we start a three year journey on improving security across the health sector.
A day in the life of a Principal Security Advisor will include:
- Actively working alongside the business users, senior leaders, and technical resources to influence and provide pragmatic and technical security advice
- Working with security leads in the health sector providing advice and guidance as part of the wider health sector cybersecurity improvement programme.
- Providing leadership and advice on cyber security governance, risk and compliance, for the Ministry's national and sector-facing systems
- Leading the Certification and Accreditation process of the Data and Digital systems and services including the assessment of interface security between health sector agency systems, externally hosted sector systems and Ministry hosted sector-facing operational systems
We're on our transformation journey moving to modern technology architecture, including cloud platforms. You'll also be involved in providing policy advice that meets our legal obligations.
To be successful, we are looking for you to have proven capability operating at a senior level in the security space. Working across the organisation you will be a highly effective communicator and be able to develop and manage stakeholder requirements. You'll be able to demonstrate experience leading projects and advising on current cyber security threats and system vulnerabilities.
It is ideal that you have a relevant tertiary qualification, or relevant work experience that aligns with CISSP or alike, and have an understanding of the machinery of government or healthcare.
