Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team
Te Aho o Te Kahu (the Cancer Control Agency) was established in December 2019 to provide national leadership and oversight for cancer control. The Agency has a key role in driving the system change needed to achieve the ambitious goals set out in the New Zealand Cancer Action Plan 2019-2029.
Data, Monitoring and Reporting (DMR) Team have an important role in driving equitable cancer outcomes. Our numbers speak the story of every New Zealander affected by cancer and their whānau. We are involved in innovative data technology development, we question the status quo, and we support process changes to improve health outcomes.
As with all Te Aho o Te Kahu teams, DMR is fully committed to making an enduring contribution to being equity led and person/whānau centred in everything we do. This includes supporting the wider agency in understanding our obligations and responsibilities with respect to Māori data sovereignty and governance.
Te whainga poto o tēnei tūranga – What is the purpose of this position?
The DMR Team leads the implementation of an integrated approach to collect, analyse and communicate high quality cancer data to drive planning, quality improvement and monitoring activities across the cancer sector. As with all Te Aho o Te Kahu teams, this integrated approach will have a focus on equity.

We are looking for a self-driven individual to join the fast-growing DMR Team. As a budding agency, you will have the rare opportunity to be a part of a range of pioneering health initiatives. You will bring your keen eye for detail, a collaborative approach to work, and a good sense of humour.
The Information Analyst has primary responsibility for providing high quality analysis to inform decision making in the team and wider Agency. You will provide guidance to team members, work closely with stakeholders, and apply a range of data analytics tools including SQL and R; experience in R-Shiny and SNOMED CT will be very useful. Prior health sector work experience would be desirable but not essential.

This role has has a salary range of $64,077 - $85,437 . Offered salary will be based on candidates skills and experience.
