Senior Portfolio Manager - Gambling Harm at Ministry of Health, Wellington

Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team: 

The Addiction Group works to ensure mental health and addiction services are strong, sustainable and safe for all New Zealanders.

The Addiction Group is responsible for implementing significant parts of the new Strategy to Prevent and Minimise Gambling Harm 2022/23 to 2024/25.  This includes delivering a range of services, including public health and clinical intervention services, workforce development, research and evaluation and new services and innovations. As part of this new strategy, Health New Zealand will be procuring public service to prevent and minimise public health and clinical interventions, including specific supports for Māori, Pacific, and Asian populations. 

We require an experienced Senior Portfolio Manager able to manage a portfolio of contracts, as well as lead commissioning projects for the implementation of wider services and investments funded under the Strategy.  Capability in te ao Māori and Pacific cultures is highly desirable.

 

Te whainga poto o tēnei tūranga – What is the purpose of this position?

In this role you will provide high quality contract and relationship management, ensuring robust monitoring processes and supporting providers to deliver high quality Gambling Harm services. A key area of focus will be procuring, developing, implementing and monitoring services to achieve equitable access and outcomes. You will also work with key partners to provide advice that informs the implementation and delivery of broader programmes, and contribute to and/or lead work on machinery of government as required.

In order to be successful in this role:

  • Highly motivated self-starter who is looking to work in a results focused environment which requires initiative, flexibility and confidence working with ambiguity
  • Experience in commissing, including procurement, contract and relationship management
  • Have strong written and oral communication skills
  • Be able to quickly gain recognition as a trusted advisor on the alignment of programme strategy, people and processes, with the ability to manage relationships at all levels across organisations
  • Have experience in coordinating projects and meeting deadlines
  • Previous experience in supporting service redesign would be an advantage
  • Have relevant tertiary qualifications or other relevant education
  • You will thrive working in a team environment

 

Lived experience of mental health and addiction is welcomed.

 

Band 19G has a salary range of $119,550 - $159,400. Offered salary will be based on candidate skills and experience
