At the Office of Treaty Settlements there's is a real opportunity to be a part of New Zealand's future -one that's watched by the rest of the world.   Our work is incredibly exciting and fast-paced.  If this sounds like you, we would love you to join our great team!!   We're looking for talented and motivated people to work with us to negotiate the settlement of historical Treaty of Waitangi claims, build positive relationships between the Crown and Māori, and administer the Marine and Coastal Area (Takutai Moana) Act.   The Principal will be part of the Policy and Legal team who are responsible for providing specialist advice across a wide range of areas in the office. We are looking for someone with in-depth knowledge of Ministerial and Cabinet processes and most importantly someone with strong problem solving skills.

To be successful in the Principal Advisor role, you'll have an extensive career history ideally with a treaty, legal, or natural resources background.  You will have excellent relationship management skills and demonstrated ability working across agencies to achieve results.   You'll develop your leadership skills by contributing to the broader capability of the office as well as mentoring staff and taking the lead on negotiations.

Salary range:  $105,630 - $142,911
