Senior Communications Advisor (Fixed Term 12 Months), Communication Services, National Office

The Ministry of Justice is part of a cross-government work programme related to family violence and sexual violence that aims to ensure victims are safer, improve services and change long standing behaviours and attitudes. The Family and Whānau Violence Legislation Bill is part of this work. We need an experienced Senior Communications Advisor for a fixed term, 12 month period to provide high quality communications advice and support to the team responsible for implementing the Family Violence legislation.

You will be skilled in managing complex and sensitive issues and you will be able to lead design, development and delivery of communication plans and initiatives.  This role will have you working with a wide variety of people to identify communication and engagement needs, issues and implications and appropriate solutions. You will need to be adept at building strong relationships.

You will have excellent influencing and verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, a can do attitude and the ability to tailor your style to meet a range of audiences.

The ideal candidate will have experience at a senior level in the communications profession, will be used to working with senior managers and will have a good understanding of the machinery of government and the public sector, knowledge of the Ministry of Justice, experience in stakeholder engagement, communicating policy, legislation and cross-agency work would be advantageous.

Salary range:  $74,038 - $100,169
