The Waitangi Tribunal is a permanent commission of inquiry charged with making recommendations on claims brought by Māori relating to Tiriti o Waitangi.  It holds a unique place in the New Zealand constitutional framework. The Tribunal's work includes registering claims, conducting and analysing research, liaising with claimants and other parties, and writing reports.

The Ministry of Justice seeks a Registrar to support the Waitangi Tribunal with it's inquiry programme as well as managing and assessing claims. The Registrar holds and performs the statutory responsibility of Registrar for the Waitangi Tribunal in accordance with the Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975.

To be successful in this role you will have extensive experience in working with Māori groups and organisations, proven competence at operating in a senior management team, and the intellectual agility and creativity to challenge assumptions on how things are done. Experience working with judiciary and within Government would make you a strong candidate.

A Bachelor of Law degree, a current Practising Certificate and a strong understanding of Tribunal jurisprudence are requirements for the role.

Salary range:  $100,575 - $136,071
