Sector Group in the Ministry of Justice brings together the best of strategy, policy, data analysis, research and evaluation capabilities to inform decision making by Justice Sector leaders.

Now is an exciting time for you to become a part of Sector Group as the insights and advice we provide are highly sought after. Our work is characterised by innovation, quality and impact as we inform the direction for the Justice Sector.

In these roles, you will turn data into insight, to deliver better services across Sector Group. The data-driven insights generated from this work ensure the Ministry's operational leaders have a clear view of external trends and operational issues. This allows them to focus their front-line improvement efforts on the operational areas that will make the biggest difference to New Zealanders.

As a Senior Analyst, you will be leading a range of data analysis and insights you will have:

  • Several years of analytical experience solving complex business problems
  • Logical thinking
  • An aptitude to convey data and insights simply to senior leaders
  • Leadership qualities
  • Great communication skills
  • Ability to use SAS or similar analytical software
  • A passion for analytics

As an Analyst, you will be contributing to a range of data analysis and insights including:

  • Analysing data to determine the root cause of issues
  • Communicating analytical findings to non-analytical audiences
  • Using analytics software (ideally SAS)
  • Building relationships
  • A tertiary degree in a relevant field
  • A passion for analytics
