Job Description

Court Victim Advisor – Permanent Full Time

Whakatane District Court

You're calm, resilient and great when it comes to dealing with people, and that's why you'll achieve impressive things in this role. You'll enjoy the challenge and satisfaction of working with people who have been affected by crime. This is an exciting opportunity for you to use your knowledge and skill to make a major contribution to assisting victims of crime through the court process.

From working with children who are witnesses to liaising with whanau, you'll thrive in the diversity and challenge of contributing to our great team environment.

You'll make an enormous difference to the victims through what you do, and how you do it. How? Because it's your job to provide advice on how their case is progressing and also to help them participate effectively in the criminal justice process.

Your communication skills and understanding of legislative processes and reporting requirements will support your sound judgement. To complement this, you're also an excellent communicator able to work confidently and professionally in challenging circumstances where you can use high levels of autonomy. A relevant tertiary qualification or experience in the family violence sector is desirable.

The successful applicant will be a member of the team of Court Victim Advisors covering the Waikato and Bay of Plenty District and High Courts.   A current driver's licence is essential.

To apply, please download the self-assessment form and attach the self-assessment form to your application, along with your covering letter and CV.

Applications close 25 June 2018.
