Job Description

Senior Analysts and Analysts (level 2) – Haere Mai, Te Arawhiti

MOJ/1445822

At the Office for Māori Crown Relations – Te Arawhiti, there's an opportunity for you to be part of the team that shapes New Zealand's future - one that's watched by the rest of the world.

We're looking for hard-working, talented and motivated people to join Te Arawhiti.  Our work is high-profile, fast-paced and rewarding.  If this sounds like you, we'd love you to join our great team.  In a recent internal survey our staff recommended Te Arawhiti as a great place to work.

When you join us we'll provide you with experiences, variety and challenges that will enhance your career.  You'll develop your leadership skills by contributing to the broader capability of the office.

We welcome applications for permanent, fixed term or secondment opportunities into these roles.  Applicants are advised they will need to be available in the weeks beginning 24 February and 3 March for interview.

Senior Analysts (vacancy # JUST-00-0-291-1, JUST-00-00-308-1, JUST-00-00-307-1) We're looking for talented and motivated Senior Analysts to work in:

  • Te Kāhui Whakatau (Treaty Settlements) where we negotiate the settlement of historical Treaty of Waitangi claims
  • Te Kāhui Takutai Moana (Marine and Coastal Area) where we administer the Marine and Coastal Area (Takutai Moana) Act 2011 by leading implementation and engagement with applicants on the recognition of customary rights, working with the Crown Law Office for applications considered by the High Court, and providing advice to the Minister of Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations.
  • Te Hāpai Ō Strategy and Policy where we develop policy and strategic advice for all areas of Te Arawhiti.

Every day is different: you might develop policy advice, lead negotiation or other workstreams, provide briefings to Ministers, Cabinet and Parliamentary Select Committees and represent Te Arawhiti in external meetings. You will also mentor analysts and foster consistency across the office.  To be successful in this role you would ideally have at least four years' experience as an analyst or advisor in central government or a closely related area.

Salary range $99,413 - $140,348
