Te āhuatunga a te tūranga/About the Role

The Pae Tukutuku role is part of the Court Services Team, Māori Land Court and is responsible for delivering quality information and customer service relating to the timely progression of applications and cases. Pae Tukutuku mahi is multi-disciplinary and includes the provision of client advisory services, court registry services, case management, land registry services and judicial support services.

In addition, this role:

  • Provides education, information and advice about Māori Land Court practice and procedure, ownership, use and management of Māori land
  • Undertakes research into the record to derive ownership details
  • Drafts evidence-based submissions and reports from the Court record
  • Facilitates our disputes resolution process

The work is challenging and varied, and the environment is interesting and supportive.

 

He pūkenga tou/Skills and Experience

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Good general knowledge of, and respect for, tikanga Māori and a commitment to further develop your knowledge of Te Reo Māori
  • A genuine interest in people and a strong customer focus
  • Good attention to detail and quality
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • An understanding of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
  • Strong demonstrable research skills
  • A high level of integrity and confidentiality

You will work within a well-established and vibrant team alongside technical experts and you'll be flexible, calm, resilient and organised.

The Māori Land Court exists to support land owners through their whenua journey. As a team, we help promote the retention of Māori land with its correct ownership and assist with the effective use, management and development of that land.

Salary Range per annum: The appointing salary for this position will be between $50,128 and $70,768 based on their skills and experience
