Te Tāhū o te Ture is looking for an exceptional Director Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO).
Our EPMO is a standalone team, responsible for taking an enterprise-wide approach to identify, prioritise, and successfully enable an investment portfolio of change initiatives which support the Ministry to achieve its strategic goals and ambitions. The team will provide an ongoing view of the portfolio but also supports central agency requirements, P3M capability building, and projects through the full lifecycle.
The Director EPMO enables this by working closely with senior leaders, PMOs, and a wide range of stakeholders as the head of project profession, providing thought-leadership and expertise to deliver an uplift in project capabilities across our large and complex Ministry. This position plays a crucial role in providing advice to the strategic leadership team to enable an optimised portfolio. The Director also co-leads an integrated planning and budgeting system across the organisation.

The Director EPMO has a unique opportunity to build and lead a team of experienced experts. You'll coach, support and troubleshoot with your team to get results. You'll love connecting with people and combining your interpersonal skills and your technical experience to realise an uplift in project and portfolio delivery at the Ministry.
You will also:
- Have strong knowledge of enterprise portfolio management practices, processes and governance
- Have excellent understanding and experience of investment lifecycles and strong knowledge of the financial aspects of project and portfolio management
- Have proven experience in delivering organisational change
- Have strong relationship and interpersonal skills: able to use and build on existing connections to leverage results
- Have strong influencing and negotiation skills
- Be a leader people want to be inspired by. You're good at inspiring and motivating others, getting the best from individuals and teams, and demonstrate an inclusive mindset and genuine curiosity about others
- Have an understanding and appreciation of cultural issues and concerns - understanding of Te Ao Māori, Te Reo Māori me onā tikanga
Reporting directly to the Deputy Secretary - Strategy, Governance and Finance, you'll have access to a great team of peers who are dedicated to driving strategic decision making, shaping the Ministry's direction, and enabling the Ministry to succeed with high quality information and objective advice.
