Are you an experienced Criminal Defence Lawyer with recent Duty Lawyer experience? If so, we are looking for someone just like you to help lead the Duty Lawyer Service at the Tauranga District Court.
This is a satisfying role which our Duty Lawyer Supervisors enjoy undertaking. You will report to the Senior Duty Lawyer Supervisor Northern and work closely with the Deputy Senior Duty Lawyer Supervisor.
The position is full time but a combination of part time appointments will be considered. Please indicate your preference for full or part time in your application.

To be successful in this role, you must be passionate about criminal justice issues and:
- Be qualified to practise law in New Zealand
- Have Provider Approval Level 1 or above, as well as Duty Lawyer Approval
- Have proven credibility with Judges, peers and others in the legal community
- Be comfortable as part of a team who support and rely on one another
- Enjoy sharing legal expertise and exchanging ideas
- Have empathy and the ability to relate to a wide range of people.

The Public Defence Service (PDS) is part of the Ministry of Justice and the wider justice sector. The Ministry provides centralised business services, infrastructure and support to the work of the PDS.

Salary Range
The appointing salary for this role will be between $120,868 and $157,839 based on skills and experience.
