Te Haeata/The Opportunity
Courthouses need to be fit for purpose, complying with legislative and regulatory requirements, and meeting the diverse business needs of the Judiciary, Ministry of Justice staff, other agencies working from the courthouse on a regular basis. They also need to meet the needs of court users that enter our courthouses from time to time and reflect the partnership relationships the Ministry has with local iwi and hāpu.
The Facilities Manager will support the operational Ministry property needs/requirements across our Courts and wider property portfolio, developing essential relationships with other Ministry business units such as Courts, Service Delivery, Finance, Leasing, Security and Health & Safety. Working collaboratively with contractors will be key to ensuring an agile approach to issues to support the operational needs of the Ministry's business.
Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience
To be successful in the role you will have:
- An understanding and appreciation of cultural issues and concerns in particular Tikanga Maori
- Act as the voice of the Ministry to confirm that suppliers understand any specific Ministry requirements and ensure that the requirements are met
- Outstanding planning and organisational skills
- Experience developing and managing project budgets, adhering to Ministry of Justice procurement and financial governance and other processes as required
- Solid commercial acumen and the ability to build strong relationships at all levels, having great communication skills both written and verbal
- A sound understanding of All of Government project management principles.
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation relating to property maintenance and building standards.
- Knowledge of planned and preventative maintenance programmes.

Utu ā-tau/Salary
The remuneration band for this role is $97,208 to $135,539 – the appointing salary will be based on skills and experience.
