We have a leadership opportunity to manage a diverse group of analysts and advisors. This is a brand new role and an opportunity to stamp you mark and shape the team.


About the Role

The position sits in the Intelligence, Planning, and Coordination Services Directorate (IPCS). Our primary purpose is to support the Chief Operation Officer and the Operations Directorates with information, planning and development, co-ordination and support services.  We provide thought leadership and management for specific functions across the broader MPI including Operational Systems, Emerging Risks, Intelligence, performance management and continuous improvement.


You'll be supporting the team in the formulation and delivery of tasks and projects or programs in line with a matrix management structure. The team is spread across New Zealand with your reporting line in Wellington. This role offers you the variety and the challenge to develop and enhance your leadership skills, whilst driving innovation that will shape our future way of working.

Skills and Responsibilities

Ideally, you'll have 5 plus years in a management role maybe across a range of industries.  You'll bring previous experience in analytical thinking and problem solving using frameworks and performance tools. You'll have a natural ability to drive results across multiple groups and stakeholders. A key skill is the ability to maintain strong and positive relationships across a wide range of teams and sectors.


This role requires strong technical skills in areas like business processes, business planning, continuous improvement and/or performance management.



The initial location will be the Auckland Biosecurity Centre (Corner of Tom Pearce Drive and Jimmy Ward Crescent), and will move in late 2017 to a new purpose-built facility for MPI at The Landing Business Park, near Auckland Airport.
