Job Description

The MPI Food Act Implementation team offers a very exciting 18-month fixed-term or secondment opportunity for someone looking for a managerial role to introduce positive changes to the way we, and others, do things in the food safety and suitability system.

The Manager Food Systems and Culture leads a great team of staff developing and implementing food safety and suitability rules and tools for a diverse range of food industries (e.g. food service, food retail, horticulture and manufacture of all kinds of foods - from apple juice to zabaglione).

All behaviour (good or bad) happens for a reason. The MPI Food Act 2014 Implementation Programme is all about providing people making and selling food reasons to ‘be good' (and taking away reasons to ‘be bad'). So if you want to be at the forefront of influencing a food safety system that aims to combine food science with behavioural science to create a strong food safety culture in New Zealand now is the time and this is the role for you. In addition to the core team management role, this role has project management responsibility for delivery of a number of key Food Act Implementation milestones.

We're looking for a strong manager, passionate about food safety, suitability and trade, who can bring out the best in the amazing staff in this team. You will have experience in developing and implementing regulatory and non-regulatory standards. You will have great relationship and communication skills and be comfortable initiating, influencing and managing change with both industry stakeholders and the people you manage.

If this sounds like your dream job we look forward to reviewing your application and CV
