Our Ministerial Services team currently have two roles available:

  • One role is permanent and appointment will be made at the Adviser level.
  • One role is fixed-term to June 2019 and appointment will be made at the Senior Adviser or Adviser role, dependent on experience. This role would be ideal for someone with previous ministerial servicing experience look to take the next step in their career.

About our team

 The Ministerial Services team is responsible for management of ministerial correspondence and support within MPI. The team provides a crucial link between MPI and our three Ministers and seven portfolios, ensuring the Ministers are well supported to do their job. The team operates within a fast paced environment, managing over 3,000 items to Ministers each year and working right across MPI and its wide variety of functions.

  

About the role

 The Adviser/Senior Adviser roles are responsible for managing the process for Ministers Weekly Reports, regular meetings with officials and the Ministry's relationship with Select Committees. The roles are also responsible for supporting the Team Leader in managing the team, the function and leading process improvement initiatives as needed.

 

 Key requirements for the Adviser role:

  • Previous experience in a ministerial servicing, administration or closely related role.
  • An understanding of the role of ministerial servicing in the machinery of government, and of the relationship between Ministers and the public sector.
  • Ability to function independently and as part of a team.
  • A proven ability to deliver quality material on time.
  • Good knowledge and experience working with standard Microsoft Office software products e.g. Word, Excel.
  • The ability to quickly assimilate new information or areas of work.
  • The ability to work well under pressure and to tight timeframes with a capacity to multi task effectively.
  • Excellent relationship management and networking skills.

  

In addition to the above, Senior Advisers will be expected to have

  • Previous experience in a ministerial servicing role is a must.
  • Experience in working at senior levels in a team is desirable but not a requirement.
  • Creativity and an eagerness to explore and evaluate new operational delivery practices.
