About the team

The Skills and Regulatory Stewardship team sits within the Policy and Trade branch of MPI. The team has the following key focuses:

  • Leading the Building Policy Capability work programme to improve the quality of policy advice
  • Leading the development and delivery of a work programme to build the capability and capacity of the primary sector workforce.
  • Ensuring regulatory processes across MPI are of sound quality and meet government requirements and expectations

About the role

The Policy Team Leader will manage a small team within the Skills and Regulatory Stewardship Team, working closely with the Manager, Skills and Regulatory Stewardship. The Policy Team Leader will lead MPI's regulatory stewardship and policy capability work programmes and will also have the opportunity to lead specific projects designed to ensure the primary sector has the workforce it needs for the future. A range of flexible working options will be considered for this role.

About you 

You will be an experienced Policy Team Leader or a Senior Policy Analyst who is looking to step up into a management role. You will be a highly motivated individual who enjoys a role with variety. Your skills and experience will include:

  • experience in regulatory stewardship and/or policy capability
  • a collaborative working style
  • extensive policy experience
  • a track record of delivering high priority projects
  • the ability to motivate a team

You will need excellent communication skills and experience dealing with a wide range of stakeholders.
