Job Description

MPI has a great Senior Communications Adviser opportunity within Fisheries New Zealand. This is your chance to be involved on issues that New Zealanders care about deeply – shared fisheries that are sustainable now and into the future.

 

About the Role:

This is a fixed term or secondment opportunity until 31 June 2021. You will be working to support and drive communications associated with the Digital Monitoring Fisheries Change Programme. Digital Monitoring covers catch and position reporting plus cameras on vessels to verify catch information. The successful candidate will work closely with the Programme team responsible for the Digital Monitoring work and also with colleagues in the Communications, Engagement & Channels Directorate. You will also play a key role managing the programme's websites and related social media campaign management along with managing media enquiries. 

 

Skills and Experience:

We're looking for someone with a proven track record for stakeholder communications, the ability to think strategically and a keen eye for detail. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and a creative problem-solver who can deliver on work programmes and work as part of a high performing team.

 

To succeed in this position, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Ability to work in complex, fast-paced environments, including liaising with media
  • Ability to build credibility and trust with key internal stakeholders
  • Website management & social media campaign management
  • Experience in project, event management and excellent organisational skills
  • A proven ability to deliver quality material on time and within budget
