Job Description

The Ministry for Primary Industries is looking for a Team Leader to be part of the National Intelligence Team (NIT) based in Wellington City. The NIT has a national and strategic focus across the breadth of what MPI is responsible for including biosecurity, fisheries, food safety, animal welfare, forestry and trade. 

 

About the role

  • This is a new role that will work alongside another team Leader and with the manager to lead the NIT in the delivery of timely intelligence products to identify risk or develop insights into risks or opportunities for primary industries.
  • Leading a team of six intelligence analysts, you will be responsible for managing their development and performance and working closely with the other team leader to ensure the NIT is operating effectively across a range of cross-cutting areas. 
  • As part of the leadership team you will play a role in guiding the development of MPIs' intelligence function as it supports Biosecurity New Zealand, Fisheries New Zealand, New Zealand Food Safety and Te Uru Rakau. 
  • When required the Team Leader National Intelligence will be involved in supporting major food, trade and biosecurity Responses.
  • A critical part of your role will be to develop positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and raising the profile of intelligence in MPI and across government.

Security Clearance

Security clearance to the level of TOP SECRET SPECIAL is required for this position. The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain this clearance.  More information about security clearances can be found at here

The salary band for this role is $82k to $107k depending on skills and experience of the preferred candidate.
