About the role

Being part of the Operations Branch, you will have an opportunity to work with the stakeholders from all the different directorates which will help you to understand the business in more detail.

In this role you will be:

  • Dealing with employees and staff across different parts of MPI including but not limited to Fisheries, Biosecurity, Food and Safety and Forestry New Zealand branches.
  • You will communicate and collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders both internal and external. From booking a meeting room to arranging a contractor to attend to a maintenance issue. No day will be the same, so if you like variety and enjoy a challenge APPLY NOW.
  • We need you to be agile and adaptable, someone who thrives in a complex and sometimes ambiguous environment. 
  • You will be a team player who is strong on systems, processes, and relationships.
  • Provide a high level of ability within the MS Suite and sound secretariat skills and experience.

About the Organisation

The Operations branch has a critical role in preventing harmful organisms crossing New Zealand's borders.  It manages border and compliance activities as well as preparing for, and responding to, any biosecurity incursions that may occur. The branch also manages MPI's centralised intelligence, planning and co-ordination group which was established to manage food, biosecurity and animal welfare response consistently and effectively.


Experience & Requirements

Bring your attention to detail and your enjoyment of working in a fast moving, busy environment.

Experience in an office environment, including;

  • Facilities management, reception & maintenance services
  • Knowledge of administration and business support systems and processes
  • Well - developed skills across the MS Suite
  • Experience of records management system
  • Multitasking and prioritising across multiple stakeholders

Salary range for this role is $47k to $61k depending on skills and experience
