Senior Adviser Farmer Support Hamilton - Fixed term until December 2020

About the role

The Mycoplasma bovis Programme has been operating since July 2018, and we're working toward a world first eradication of M. bovis. Our environment is dynamic, and continually changing. This role works closely with other M. bovis functions, particularly the Operations and Recovery teams in the regional offices. The role will need to provide a welfare perspective into the day-to-day operations of the programme, and will need to be able to do this independently while balancing the disease management objectives.

As the Senior Regional Welfare Advisor you will be responsible for case management, coordinating advice and overseeing welfare delivery services at the regional level to ensure the immediate welfare needs of those affected. You will need good judgment and have a good level of resilience and maturity, with the ability to work closely with a range of diverse stakeholders. You will need to bring welfare perspective and expertise a team made up of different skills, perspectives and functions.

 

Skills and Experience

Can you demonstrate expertise in:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
  • Team work and ability to contribute to a wider set of functions and objectives
  • High level internal and external stakeholder management and relationship building
  • An understanding of how to manage and escalate urgent human welfare issues
  • Empathetic with the ability to relate to people in stressful situations
  • Experience of working in a high-pressure environment
  • Ability to deliver results under a tight deadline
  • Strong written and oral communication
  • Sufficient computer skills to operate within a large organisational database and mobile tools.

Desired

  • Experience providing welfare support in a community setting or response situation
