Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
The Portfolio Planner role is critical to ensuring that we capture all incoming work into our business unit and schedule its delivery by matching it against our people resource pipeline. There are various artefacts involved in providing this overall view and this role will be responsible for creating, developing and maintaining these artefacts. The right person for the role will be someone who is naturally analytical, has exceptional attention to detail and able to collaborate with various technical and non-technical staff. You will be a whiz with MS Excel and have the ability to be able to work with other tools as we move away from MS Excel to more automated reporting.
This is a critical role in the planning and scheduling of all incoming work for ourbusiness unit. The key outputs will be a work delivery pipeline that provides visability of all incoming work scheduled for delivery and how the people resource pipeline is scheduled to support that work, outlining any gaps or dependencies. The views will be continuously updated, monitored and tracked to ensure effective deployment of people resources to the successful delivery of work. This role will be pivotal in ensuring we have enough people with the right skillsets at the right time to assign to work including projects and programmes, including all phases from forecasting to recruiting to skills development.
You will also be responsible for identifying and providing guidance to managers regarding issues and gaps in resourcing, incorporating planning and resourcing activities for business as usual (BAU) and strategic initiatives and as a part of the Digital Portfolio Office team, supporting continuous improvements, identifying and implementing efficiencies.

The Digital Portfolio Office at MPI is in its setup phase and will provide oversight of all digital projects and programmes at MPI. This covers the end-to-end planning, delivery and ongoing assurance and benefits tracking of all digital projects and programmes.
