The Team Manager Establishment for Invercargill is looking for a Veterinary Technical Supervisor Reliever to join the team!

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role

This reliever role is based in Invercargill. The core of this role is to provide relief to cover both short- and medium-term leave at the premises based in the Southland and Otago region.

In this position you will undertake verification activities in line with current legislation and organisational requirements, thereby permitting the issue of official assurances.

Applicants must be flexible and prepared to travel away from home as and when required (a fleet vehicle will be provided).

Invercargill, New Zealand's southernmost city with a population exceeding 53,000 and the capital of Southland. The city is well-equipped with an excellent range of shops and a selection of lively bars and restaurants.

The lower South Island is a family orientated, friendly region that is within easy reach of pristine rainforests, rivers, fertile farmlands and sweeping coastlines making it an desirable location to live!

Mō te peka - About the Branch

Reporting to the Team Manager Establishments Invercargill, the role sits within the Establishment group of the Verification Services directorate. MPI Verification Services (MPI VS) provides a range of food safety and biosecurity verification and certification services to support market access strategies and setting standards.

  • A Qualified and registered Veterinarian
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices associated with HACCP, Quality Assurance systems, Risk Management Systems
  • Verbal and written skills, verbal and analytical reasoning skills
  • Integrity and trust, ethics and values, resilience, adaptability and openness
  • Persuading and influencing, team work, planning and organising
  • Computer literacy – can operate standard and customised software to an acceptable standard e.g. word-processing, excel, internet, email, database, secure sites, electronic certification, residues etc
  • An understanding of basic food technology
  • A willingness to embrace the Verification Services Triple O way of working
