Salary band: $109,626 to $148,318 depending on skills and experience
Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
The main focus of this role is to work across the Policy & Trade branch and throughout the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) to provide thought leadership and expert advice on MPl's strategic context, direction, delivery and performance.
You will play an important role and be expected to plan, lead and ensure delivery of specific pieces of work, including business planning and related work programme reporting. You will also provide coaching and mentoring support to the wider team
Mōu - About You
You will be capable of providing well-reasoned and robust advice andhave the ability to quickly identify issues. You will also work collaboratively with colleagues and be able to influence and persuade when required.
You will bring the following:
- Tertiary qualification or relevant experience in related field
- Experience in providing strategy and planning advice and developing business models
- Experience in Developing planning frameworks and tools to enable effective work programme and resource management
- Strong interpersonal skills – ability to build and maintain effective relationships
- Excellent understanding of government agency functions and processes
- Very strong analytical ability: a capacity to quickly identify and clearly express core elements of an issue or proposal
- Strong oral and written presentation skills

The Branch Strategy, Capability and Support directorate provides planning, business reporting and advice, accountability reporting and a wide range of general support to the Policy and Trade branch.
Our role is to provide an environment that allows the branch to deliver on its work programme commitments to our leadership team, Ministers, and the New Zealand public.
