Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team
The biosecurity system policy team supports the Minister, other parts of MPI, and other stakeholders to understand the interconnected parts of the biosecurity system and its relationships to other systems. This includes policy work focused on our border, the marine environment, and overall system health.
You will be joining a great group of people and will influence the shape of critical policy areas that grow and protect New Zealand.
Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
We are looking for a policy analyst to join our team. For this role you will need to be a good communicator capable of working with a range of people with different backgrounds, perspectives and interests. You will enjoy working in a complex and ambiguous policy environment. Strong creative problem-solving skills will be necessary.
This opportunity is Wellington based.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- experience as a central government policy analyst;
- familiarity with MPI policy processes and systems;
- strong analytical skills;
- a tertiary qualification;
- the ability to match strategic vision with pragmatic problem solving;
- strong written communication skills;
- an ethic of teamwork and collaboration; and
- the desire to develop, learn and grow.
Flexibility is a must – we need someone who is happy to be assigned to any area of our work programme.
