Response Manager at Ministry for Primary Industries, National

An exciting new opportunity presents for a Response Manager role based out of Wellington. The Pou Ārahi (Incident Management Team - IMT) has a national remit for biosecurity response leadership and we are looking for a someone who can hit the ground running and lead in the biosecurity response space.

 

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

The role requires thought and people leadership and you will be required to influence at the governance level while keeping response teams on track to deliver response goals and objectives. When not in response, you can expect to be shaping response preparedness activities. The ideal candidate will lead and manage allocated responses using MPI and New Zealand Coordinated Incident Management System (CIMS) frameworks that are in place across MPI and all of government.

The Response Manager will also control and manage response activity through workstream prioritisation and timeline management, determining resource requirements across functions, problem solving, and escalating issues in alignment with MPI response process.

The salary for this role is Range C: $109k to $129k based on skills, capabilities, and experience.

You'll be an experienced leader, a lateral thinker who can see the forest beyond the trees, someone who can work in ambiguity, and get the job done. You will be someone who can maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders who may be participating, impacted, or otherwise affected by a response. Your competency and experience will position you as a Pou Ārahi; a ‘guide post' for what good response leadership looks like.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience leading complex incident management or responses
  • Be able to deliver successful response programmes or projects
  • Working with diverse and challenging governance groups
  • Provide input into response system review and improvements
  • Contribute to a range of preparedness activities
  • Engage with stakeholders to enhance response preparedness
  • Support and mentor other staff involved in responses
