Senior Business Analyst at Ministry for Primary Industries, Wellington City

Location: Wellington

Role type: Permanent Full-Time

Salary: $78,817 to $124,570 per annum. Dependent on skills and experience of the successful applicant.  

About the Role | Kōrero mō te tūranga

This is a unique position within Verification Services in MPI which bridges the gap between the business, reporting and IT. We are looking for someone who has experience across these skillsets to help shape the future of Verification Services systems. You will be recognised for translating technical language into plain English through delivering data analysis to the management team and responding to the branch's data and content management requirements. In addition, you will partner with the wider MPI IT department to maintain and improve the branch's IT systems, with the opportunity to deliver outcomes to Verification Services.

This is a role in which you will be integral to the success of a business that makes a significant contribution to our primary sectors and their access to offshore markets. If you thrive on making a difference, then this could be just the role you have been looking for.

Mōu - About You

This role will suit someone who is looking for a step up and wants to make the role their own. Someone who loves drilling into data and providing intelligence for decision making. There is plenty of opportunity to develop and grown within a supportive environment.

Key competencies:

  • Both IT and Business Analysis experience
  • Reporting experience (across both Microsoft Excel and Power BI)
  • Strong stakeholder management experience in building credibility and effective working relationships with senior leaders, technical specialists, and peers
  • Advanced communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to communicate technical information effectively to diverse individuals, groups, and interests
  • A relevant tertiary qualification
  • A background in government is useful but not essential

MPI Verification Services (MPI VS) provides a range of food safety and biosecurity verification and certification to support access of animal products to and from overseas markets. Maintaining and growing international market access for New Zealand depends on the excellent work that our veterinarians provide on the front line. Animal welfare is also an important focus for MPI.
