Principal Adviser Internal Communications

Role type: Full time, permanent

Location: Wellington

Salary range: $109,626 - $148,318 depending on skills and experience

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role

Public Affairs has an opportunity for a highly experienced Principal Communications Adviser to deliver strategic and influential internal communications. Working alongside the Manager Organisational Communications, you will create vital relationships with leaders across the organisation. This is a unique opportunity to help improve internal communications at an exciting time for Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI).

Partnering with people right across the Ministry, your work will help achieve MPI's goals to build prosperity and sustainability within our Primary Sectors. While there are no direct reports, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside other leaders to mentor and coach members of the team.

Mōu - About You

Your expertise, creative thinking and experience in strategic internal communications will enable the development and implementation of internal communications to build the culture and help staff understand their place in delivering our strategic goals.

This is a diverse role with a mandate to bring new and interesting ideas to the table. You'll have the opportunity to build and develop your career while working on an array of interesting programmes.

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence at all levels
  • Strong writing and editing skills and experience presenting complex and technical information
  • Demonstrated knowledge of our obligations under the Treaty of Waitangi and confidence and interest to pursue and promote tikangi and te reo Māori
  • Experience in delivering timely operational and strategic communications
  • Background in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations.
