Kōrero mō te Tūranga - About the Role
Electronic Monitoring Video Analysts provide support to the Operations Manager Fisheries Electronic Monitoring. You will be part of the audit process of fishing industry practices and will assist with the detection of incidences of interest to Fisheries New Zealand, Fisheries Compliance, and the Department of Conservation (such as protected species captures or fisheries related management measures). This will be done by reviewing video footage from commercial fishing vessels and reporting on the activities observed.
In this role, you'll get to work with intelligent and passionate people with diverse backgrounds and skill sets across Fisheries New Zealand and MPI, other New Zealand Government agencies, Tangata Whenua, and industry bodies. We embrace diversity and we encourage flexible working arrangements.

We need someone who is well versed in operational understanding of commercial fishing, has previous experience working as a Fisheries Observer, and previous experience in video monitoring.We need someone who can build and maintaining successful relationships. Has a drive to meet deadlines, a natural interest in continuous improvement, and strong attention to detail. You will enjoy working in a high performing collaborative team environment. Mō tō mātou Rōpū - About the Team
We need someone who has a strong attention to detail and can translate video footage observations into digital annotation data. We are looking for someone with the proven ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.Fisheries Observer & Verification Services perform a variety of functions that are critical to the sustainable management of New Zealand's fisheries and the environmental effects of fishing. We deliver Fisheries Observer services, plan and manage logistics and deployments for Fisheries Observers, and review and analyse footage captured by our Electronic Monitoring programme.
