Salary range: $68,781 to $80,918 depending on skills and experience
Kōrero mō te Tūranga - About the Role
We are looking for a collaborative and organised Technical Coordinator, with great written and verbal communication skills
You will provide technical and operational support for the Animal Imports group. You will be responsible for management of databases, templates and documents for the team, and supporting the team's frontline staff with enquiries and permit processing.
You will also work across the Animal and Plant Health Directorate and wider MPI to ensure that the team's processes are fit for purpose and align with those of the Directorate and Ministry.

You will bring:
- Knowledge and experience in developing and maintaining quality systems
- Experience with database management
- Experience in dealing with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience in gathering, organising, and communicating information.
- The ability to work under pressure and in conflict situations
- Proven ability to plan, organise, set priorities and meet deadlines
- Computer literacy

Our team sets, implements and manages the rules for safe trade.
We deliver high quality import health standards and systems in-line with international best-practice and science. The Animal Health Group also delivers high quality technical advice and communicates complicated science and standards to multiple audiences. We work collaboratively across MPI to achieve common outcomes and deliver tightly integrated end to end biosecurity services. We also support the development of MPI input into World Organisation for Animal Health international standards for the trade in animals and animal products.
We ensure a common view on acceptable risk and appropriate levels of risk management for animal health in the Directorate and work across Biosecurity New Zealand to ensure a consistent understanding of and approach to animal health risk decision-making.
