While undertaking our important work we strive to be leaders in ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of our people. This role is a dedicated position focusing on Health & Safety for a large national operations team with the goal to improve health, safety, and wellbeing capability in Verification Services.
In this vital role you will:
- Lead the development and delivery of health, safety and wellbeing systems, policies and procedures within Verification Services, ensuring these are aligned with MPI's organisation-wide safety and wellbeing programme.
- Advise Verification Services managers and staff, and work with external stakeholders where Verification Services operate.
- Ensure systems are in place and lead / coordinate and implement an improved approach to working with our frontline teams and ensure that Verification Services has policies, standards, and work practises in place to manage risk and enable a safe working environment for our people.
Mōu - About You
Ideally, you'll have experience working in a primary industry setting. However, work experience in another high-risk industry is also considered. You will also need to have:
- Project management skills, including experience in leading projects and achieving effective outcomes
- Excellent writing skills with experience in writing papers, recommendations and advising senior management as well as experience in writing procedures and processes.
- An ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of people in different situations. This includes the ability to explain, persuade and influence others.
- Strong problem solving skills and ability to take the lead in progressing any identified Health & Safety initiatives and implementing recommendations and actions.

Our people deliver a world-class, efficient, and cost-effective service to a broad range of animal product industries and sectors and facilitate not only food safety, but biosecurity and market access for animals and animal product exports.
The Business Operations and Performance team support the delivery of all business, health and safety, operational support and reporting functions within the VS Directorate.
