Intelligence Support Analyst

Role type: Permanent full-time

Location: Auckland

Salary band & range: G - $66,331 to $88,193 depending on skills and experience

 

About the Role - Kōrero mō te Tūranga

The purpose of the Intelligence Support Analyst is to provide specialist support to the intelligence function for the development of intelligence products, targeting of threats, or gaining insight into opportunities for primary industries.

You will need to: 

  • Provide excellent administration and coordination support to our frontline staff
  • Contribute to the preparation of intelligence products through collection, collation, storage, retrieval and dissemination of information
  • Communicate intelligence in the most appropriate form to intelligence analysts within the team and wider stakeholders

 

About You - Mōu

We are looking for a curious individual with an interest in intelligence. This role requires an eye for detail, the ability to work within ambiguity, a willingness to learn coupled with a strong work ethic.

In addition, our ideal candidate will have:

  • A demonstrated ability to network and build effective relationships with key stakeholders
  • Strong command of both written and verbal communication skills
  • A high level of computer literacy and proven experience using databases and knowledge management tools
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and critical reasoning skills
  • The ability to plan and prioritise use of time, and manage workflows

About the Team - Mō tō mātou Rōpū

This role reports to the Team Leader Intelligence & Targeting, and you will be part of a team of Intelligence Analysts. This team is part of the Intelligence, Targeting and Evaluation Group which coordinate and collaborate to inform and act on immediate and long-term risks to the border, across all import pathways. We are a regionally dispersed team across locations in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a New Zealand citizen who has resided continuously in New Zealand for at least the last ten (10) years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last ten (10) years: either Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.
