About the Role - Kōrero mō te Tūranga
As a part time Executive Coordinator within Te Uru Rākau - New Zealand Forest Service (Te Uru Rākau), your primary focus is to provide high-level support to a Director: helping them be effective with their time, support communications, and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
This role could be perfect for someone re-entering the workforce, working school hours, or looking for a role that fits around other commitments. This role is not just adminstrative, you'll be thinking ahead, scanning for what matters, and helping shape the Director's day with confidence and context. You'll be part of a collaborative, supportive team environment where your organisational skills and ability to take the lead will be valued.
You'll work closely with other Directors and Executive Coordinators as well as engaging with other agencies and departments in a dynamic, complex environment. Forestry is fun and this role lets you be part of it without needing to be in the forest. If you love trees, enjoy organising people and want a role that's interesting, fun, and fits into your life, this is the role for you.
Specifically, your responsibilities will be to:
- Provide support to the Director, including diary management and scheduling of meetings
- Carry out a range of administrative functions to assist the Director
- Ensure an efficient flow of papers, information, and presentations
- Draft correspondence and manage the Director's inbox
- Arrange meeting logistics including agenda preparation and minute taking
About You - Mōu
You'll bring experience in office coordination or administration within a fast-paced, complex environment, ideally in government. You're someone who can think ahead, understand the business context, and lean in to support proactively. You enjoy variety, can see the bigger picture, and thrive in roles that are meaningful and dynamic. You're confident prioritising tasks, pushing back when needed, and helping shape how the day unfolds.
You'll have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be comfortable using the M365 suite of tools. You're organised, curious, and collaborative, with the ability to manage relationships across a wide range of stakeholders. If you're looking for a role that values your transferable skills and fits into your life, this could be the perfect next step.
Importantly, you will:
- Be highly collaborative
- Have excellent time management
- Be able to juggle multiple priorities
- Be proactive
- Have the confidence to manage a range of stakeholder relationships at all levels
You do not need to meet all of the role requirements to apply. We offer a breadth of development and learning opportunities and will welcome an application if you think you could make a great fit.
About the Team - Mō tō mātou Rōpū
Te Uru Rākau is leading the Government's priorities for the forestry sector, one of Aotearoa's most successful primary industries. You'll be joining a dynamic, driven team with a shared vision to unlock forestry's full potential for New Zealand's economy and environment. You'll work closely with other Directors and Executive Coordinators, contributing to a collaborative and connected business unit that values relationships and impact. If you love trees and want to be part of something meaningful, this is a great place to be.
You'll be well supported by a wider team of support officers and other Executive Coordinators, so know you're not doing it alone. The Director you will support is fun, engaging, and the work he does is varied and interesting. You'll be part of a business unit that's anything but ordinary where your contribution is valued and your connections across agencies can grow.
