Whanganui District Health Board (WDHB) is seeking applications for Social Worker Clinician

Community Mental Health & Addiction Services
Permanent full time (32 hours per week)



Are you a Registered Social Worker?  Do you want to join our friendly, supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team to provide co existing mental health and addiction services to service users/tangata whaiora? 

 

We are looking for a committed and experienced fulltime Social Worker to work in our community mental health and addiction team. The successful applicant must have experience in Social Work practice; have a range of case management, clinical assessment and treatment intervention knowledge and skills to support people to achieve positive health and wellbeing outcomes in their recovery.

 

Whanganui has something for everyone.  From excellent education and sports training facilities, outdoor adventure pursuits, great value-for-money housing, and a maximum 15 minute drive from most suburbs to the central business district, or Whanganui Hospital.

 

This position requires you to have essential skills and knowledge requirements beyond the normal relevant tertiary qualification, registration with the Social Workers Registration Board and current Annual Practicing Certificate. 

 

To be considered you will need:

  • Clinical knowledge in mental health disorders, psychiatric and addiction medications and the management of risk.

  • Experience in delivering therapeutic modes of intervention in a person centred, whānau/family friendly, recovery model.

  • Three years' experience working in mental health and addiction clinical settings, with case load management, identifying and delivering clinical and psychosocial care to adults experiencing psychiatric disabilities in a variety of community settings highly desirable.

  • High levels of communication, interpersonal and managing diversity skills, empathy and bi-cultural sensitivity.

  • Competent computer skills in Microsoft word and ability to learn computer software packages quickly, a police clearance and current clean driver's license are also required.
