Whanganui District Health Board (WDHB) is seeking applications for a Registered Nurse for our Children's Ward with an interest also in the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU).

We have an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse with paediatric and/or SCBU experience to join our specialist paediatric team.  The paediatric service covers a wide range of specialties including respiratory illnesses, post ENT surgical procedures, orthopaedics, oncology and children's homecare nursing.  Our level 2 Special Care Baby Unit provides low and high dependency care to neonates.  We also provide intensive care to stabilise an infant, for a short period prior to transfer to a tertiary centre. 

The workload can be busy and challenging at times, this requires individuals to often work under pressure and to work closely as a team.

The role requires a motivated health professional who is child and whānau focussed.  You will also be involved with providing education and information to parents, taking an active role in the multi-disciplinary team and self-motivated to promote opportunities for professional development, knowledge and skills.

You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a skilled team. You will need to have great work organisational skills, the ability to work under pressure, committed to whānau centred care, with an on-going commitment to service improvement. We will provide you with an orientation package and ongoing support to develop the skills required to work in this specialty area.

To join our team, you will have need to have a minimum of two years' experience in either paediatric or neonatal nursing.   If you are a team player, passionate about quality patient care and being a part of an equally passionate team, then we would love to hear from you.
