We are seeking an experienced and energised Clinical Nurse Coordinator to join our Outpatient Ophthalmology Service. This is a pivotal role that blends clinical leadership, team culture building, and effective operational coordination to ensure our community receives timely, high-quality specialist eye care.

 

As Clinical Nurse Coordinator, you will:

  • Lead day-to-day coordination of ophthalmology outpatient clinics
  • Champion a positive, inclusive team culture where everyone thrives
  • Monitor patient flow and ensure clinics run smoothly and efficiently
  • Use service data and KPI's to improve performance against national targets
  • Support staff development, mentorship, and professional growth
  • Drive service improvement initiatives that enhance patient care and clinic sustainability
  • Uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equity commitments in every aspect of care

This is a dynamic role suited to an organised, forward-thinking nurse leader who enjoys problem-solving, people leadership, working in a busy specialty environment.

What we are looking for:

  • Registered Nurse with current Annual Practising Certificate
  • 5 years clinical experience with at least 2 years consolidated practice in New Zealand hospitals
  • Proven leadership or coordination experience
  • Strong communication skills and ability to foster positive team culture
  • Commitment to equity, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and culturally safe practice
  • Post Graduate study in nursing or leadership

 

Desired:

  • Confidence using clinical data, scheduling information, and service metrics
  • Experience in service development, or quality improvement
  • Familiarity with ophthalmology pathways, equipment, and terminology

You'll become part of a support Outpatient team and have the chance to contribute to meaningful service improvements. Your work will directly enhance patient outcomes and community eye health.
