About the Role

This position plays a key role in delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred pain management across Theatre Services and wider clinical areas. You will provide advanced clinical expertise, support service development, and contribute to ongoing education for staff involved in pain management.

About the Team/Service/ Location

We are seeking Registered Nurses to join our dedicated team in Theatre Services. The successful applicants will be required to work in a Monday to Friday capacity supporting the needs of the Pain service.

About you

This role requires high level communication abilities to effectively liaise at all levels.  Demonstrating a confident, positive, resilient and supportive, manner, the successful candidate will enjoy working in a very precise, structured, challenging and planned environment and will ideally possess the following skills and abilities:

  • Relevant and current New Zealand health qualifications including an Annual Practicing Certificate, with the desire and commitment to continue a professional development programme.
  • Previous Designated Senior Nurse (DSN) role experience
  • Post Graduate qualification preferred.
  • A Passion for a speciality position which will require an ongoing teaching component for practitioners across all specialities and departments.
  • Experience working independently and interdependently, assuming accountability and responsibility for your actions, making critical decisions in challenging and complex situations. This will include the opportunity to facilitate nurse led pain clinics.
  • Sound organisational abilities to prioritise, delegate and meet required timelines
  • Basic computer literacy

For the right person, this position offers a challenging and satisfying opportunity to work across all inpatients wards, PACU, theatre services the Outpatients department and contribute to supporting the teaching within the pain service.

 

As a Designated Senior Nurse

Primarily this role provides patient centred care, ensuring safe care is delivered in collaboration with patients and Whanau and a multidisciplinary specialist team to ensure successful outcomes.
